2026 Artist in Residence Visual Artist Bob Adams

Topeka native and artist, Bob Adams, has been a lifelong artist. He describes his work as unique with an abstract feel. The subjects vary from what's on the news to a landscape or something he sees in his "mind's eye." He applies his inspiration and vision to conventional canvas, but also creates mixed media art using found objects, and turns unconventional items into art.

Bob’s very serious commitment to subjects such as community care, equality, equity, justice, and the environment are often expressed using humorous rhetorical tools such as satire and burlesque.

Bob has been an established presence at the Lois Curtis Center where his kindness and generosity of spirit can be seen in his contributions to the building’s aesthetic in the several murals he has contributed to the space. His support of the standing food pantry, and his encouragement of the people, particularly the young artists, who come through the Center are apparent in his actions.

Through his artist in residency at the Lois Curtis Center, Bob will be preparing works for gallery exhibition, establishing commercial support for his art, and using the space and resources at the Center to offer community sketch classes, or other communal art spaces for Black and brown artists and aspiring artists.
